Along with the many recent technological advances within the dental profession a new approach to dental care has arisen. "Microdentistry" which is the philosophy and practice of early detection of dental disease, minimally invasive treatment with maximum patient comfort and esthetically pleasing result.

Some of these advances have been within the technology associated with airabrasion. We now have the ability to safely "sand blast" decay out of teeth.

The process of airabrasion does not create friction as found when decay is drilled out of a tooth. Friction creates heat which is felt by the nerve and perceived as pain. So long as the decay is small it can be painlessly sand blasted away without having to give the patient anesthetic.
