Sedation - General Information

Advances in dental techniques and the medications used to prevent dental pain and anxiety have debunked the myth that a dental visit is something to fear.

Today, there is usually very little discomfort during dental visits. The type of dental procedure, your general health, any medications that you are presently taking, and your personal level of anxiety are all factors to be considered when determining how best to meet the specific needs of a patient. Trying to understand the various techniques and drugs used in managing dental pain and anxiety can be confusing. Some drugs help people relax, some control pain and still others give you the impression that you have been put to sleep.

Your dentist needs to consider a multitude of factors when choosing which sedation technique would work best for you.
