Deep Sedation & General Anesthetics : |
| |
Deep sedation is the final level of conscious sedation prior to reaching general anesthesia. When very extensive treatment is required, your dentist may recommend that the treatment be performed under deep sedation or general anesthesia.
| |
| Analgesics, antianxiety agents, sedatives, and / or general anesthetic agents may be used in these situations. These techniques will cause a loss of consciousness. |
| |
Deep sedation and general anesthesia may be indicated for patients who exhibit uncontrollable anxiety, for those who need extensive surgery, or those who have difficulty controlling bodily movements. Typically, only anesthesiologists and oral surgeons possess the training and licensure to perform deep sedation and general anesthesia. |
